I had already tried the Yalumba Antique Tawny well in advance before opening this bottle. It sat in my wine storage space, waiting for a good time to crack it open.

While the texture is heavier than the average wine -- this being from the fact of it being a dessert wine -- this wine grabs you with the rich aroma of raisins, as well as a taste somewhere between some premium raisins with an aftertaste that would be somewhat reminiscent of a very subtle coffee bean, if not a very slight anise. In fact, it will very vaguely remind you of the last hints of a slight amaretto in the final seconds when the flavor fades from your palate.

This is an all-consuming dessertif, not to be taken lightly, but to be savored along with something that is just as rich and decadent.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
